NextGen - The Next Generation Air Transportation System
Although today's National Airspace System offers one of the safest means of transportation, it has evolved into a large, complex, distributed, and loosely integrated network of systems, procedures, and infrastructure without the benefit of seamless information exchange. Simply expanding the current system cannot handle the projected doubling or tripling of demand by the year 2025. The challenges of transforming the current air transportation system to NextGen will be discussed with a focus on air traffic management.
Dr. John Cavolowsky - NASA (Airspace Systems Program)
