What else is done at Jefferson Lab?
Scientists and engineers have been able to apply the technology used to build Jefferson Lab's accelerator and detectors for other uses.
A smaller accelerator has been built at Jefferson Lab that is used as the basis for a class of laser called a free electron laser. This type of laser can be tuned to different wavelengths and has potential applications for materials processing.
Some of Jefferson Lab's detector technology has been adapted to improve medical imaging. A new mammography camera developed at Jefferson Lab will shortly be on the market.
