Experimental Hall C - Accelerator Tunnel View

Hall C was the first experimental hall completed. When the first beam came to Hall C in July 1994, the physicists learned that their detectors worked well. The first official experiment started on November 15, 1995. During experiments, the pipe that you see near the lower left corner holds the electron beam entering Hall C from the accelerator tunnel. The beam strikes a target near the center of the room and two large detectors measure where the fragments go.
