The Virginia State Standards of Learning Tests can be customized with the following options:
Strand Selection - The Virginia Department of Education assigns a 'description' to each test question that indicates what skill a particular question is attempting to test. The SOL Practice Test program is now aware of these 'strands' and will allow you to select which strands you wish to use. Simply select the tests you wish to use from the main index page and then press the 'More options, please!' button. This will bring you to a page listing all of the strands that are available for each of the tests you selected. Just check the ones you would like and proceed with your test.
Non-random Tests (Fixed Sets) - After you have selected the strands you would like to use, you will be asked if you would like a random assortment of questions or a repeatable set of questions. Using a fixed set of questions is useful when reviewing materials in a class with students using several different computers. Every student using the same settings (number of questions per test, test types, strand types and set number) will receive the same questions in the same order.
