Virtual Field Trips

Behind the Scenes at SLAC

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory

Ever wondered what we do at SLAC, the US Department of Energy's particle accelerator lab at Stanford University? SLAC is hosting our first ever "virtual field trip" as part of a new series of Google+ Connected Classroom hangouts at the National Labs. Join the event for a chance to see inside some of our coolest science facilities and ask questions to researchers probing the cutting-edge of physics.

Confirmed SLAC scientists, their areas of research, and the locations they plan to broadcast from:

- Spencer Gessner, Particle Accelerator Researcher, from the SLAC linear accelerator tunnel

- Catherine Graves, Materials Scientist, from the Linac Coherent Light Source X-ray laser's SXR experiment room

- Andrea Albert, Astrophysicist and Dark Matter Researcher, from the Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope's LAT Instrument Science Operations Center
