Mission to Jupiter

This was an activity used in the BEAMS program at Jefferson Lab. Students used the following pages to help answer a question: Do the satellites of Jupiter contain the needed materials to sustain a colony?

This was our first attempt at something new - using the internet to gather information. The pages date from early 1994 and the content has not been modified since. In particular, this activity predates the crash of comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 into Jupiter and the Galileo mission to Jupiter.

The photos included in this activity were obtained from NASA's "Welcome to the Planets".

This activity has been retired from the BEAMS program. A listing of the current activities can be found in the Teacher Resources section of this site.

Let's go to Jupiter!
