A New Concept for an Adiabatic Light Guide for Scintillator Counters

Student: Ethan Zimmerman

Mentored By: Bogdan Wojtsekhowski

The light guide is an essential part of many scintillator counters and light collection systems. Special interest presents an adiabatic light guide which has high light transmission and convert the area of light source to the shape of the photo-detector. An option of the adiabatic light guide was proposed which avoid 90-degree twist of the strips and reduce length the light pipe and cut cost of production.
